Antonin Bigot Scholarship Awardees
American Discovery is happy to announce the winners for the 2015 Youth Ambassador Antonin Bigot Scholarship Award! We’d like to congratulate our two Northwest winners: Chris & Shannon Lee from Vancouver, and Tyan Taubner & Tom Horn from Eugene, as well as our two California winners: Mike & Marnice Wright from Rio Linda and Tim Huckins in Auburn!
We started this scholarship several years ago in honor of one of our most exceptional friends and group leaders, Antonin Bigot. Antonin took part in our programs as a group leader for many years before he tragically passed away in an outdoor accident. He was a phenomenal addition to our programs and embodied the spirit of cultural exchange. Through the Youth Ambassador Antonin Bigot Scholarship, American Discovery commemorates Antonin by gifting $750 to two of our randomly selected host families, in both the Northwest and California. We hope that it can help facilitate future trips abroad, college tuition, or travel experiences for your family.
We’re happy to award this scholarship to these families as a token of gratitude for their participation in our student exchange programs. It is our way of saying thank you for opening your home and sharing your life with a student. Thank you again to all of our 2015 host families; we hope to see you in 2016.
What Is American Discovery?
American Discovery is an international home-stay organization that has many fun and exciting programs for families in Oregon, Washington, California, and Colorado. Our programs provide a way for students from different countries to connect with American families. It is a perfect way to share your culture, hobbies, and your hometown — whether you are in the US, France, or Spain!
Our goal at American Discovery is to create friendships between families of different countries. We hope these friendships will last a lifetime. We wish for every student who visits the US to have a chance to experience the uniqueness of its culture and diversity of its people. In this way each student can make their own American discovery. Since each student is also an ambassador of his or her country, we hope our American families will gain a greater love for Europe as well.

Host A Student...
Host families are the most important component of our homestay programs. Their warmth and generosity are what makes the homestay experience so meaningful and memorable for the French and Spanish students.
Becoming a host family is easy. All it requires is a desire to share your home and 2-3 weeks of your life with a foreign student. The commitment you make to host a foreign student can bring your family joy for years to come. When all is said, who knows, you may even end up traveling to visit your foreign student in their country! Read what people are saying.
